For years the Talkeetna Moose Dropping Festival has been a social event of note in Alaska, replete with contests, good natured bets with the remains of old moose droppings littering the ground, the good folks of Talkeetna carry on the tradition year after year for you see there isn't that much to do in Talkeetna but prepare to climb Denali or have saturday night community table dinner at the Road House ....or if that isn't interesting enough there is the Mountain Mother contest in which the best of Alaska's women compete at chopping logs, cooking, moose skinning, and canoe paddling to the cheers of all -- as to the men who attend this contest and vastly outnumber the women in the state the chances of landing a spouse are high but it is said of Alaskan Men, the odds are good but the goods are odd ...now a few years ago the general store caught fire but they fixed it so be sure and stop in for a great ice cream .......

and Other Crimes of Nature"

an Alaskan belly laugh of a book

Every year the town of Talkeetna, Alaska holds its annual moose dropping festival. And yes, every year they get calls from radio stations asking how far do they drop the Moose and isn't that very dangerous for the animals. Well, they don't ever EVER really drop a moose, the whole thing is a play on words. But you can still see where Evil Alice served up food and the Talkeetna Road house still has family style all at one big table dinners on the weekend. This book is a lot of humorous stories about the reality and lack of it in this boom time state, certainly a good read for an adult
