WELCOME to
our church website.
As you can see,
we belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. This page will connect you to a number of really great links about
my church including the official LDS web page. My aim is to make finding
information about my church quick and easy. Whether you are a member and are looking for
an anecdote for your Relief Society lesson or additional information for your Primary
lesson or your Young women's lesson, or if you are simply someone who has heard
about Mormons and wants to know more, maybe this page can help you find what you are
looking for. As with all homepages, this one is frequently reviewed and new links
are added often. If you find a link that you think will add to this page, or if one
of the links has problems, please send me a email (see top of this page for
"Back" to connect to email). I will try to be prompt in repairing
it.
I hope you enjoy these links:
I have to begin with families because the family is the backbone of our
society. The L.D.S. church has announced the importance of marriage and families in its Proclamation to the
World. These links are designed to help families and individuals in their search for
happiness.
The President and Prophet of the L.D.S church is Gordon B. Hinckley.
This site will connect you to links about his life and his teachings.
This next site will connect you to information about church leaders. Here
you will see photos of church leaders, and learn of their lives. This next link will
provide you with more information on the General Authorities of the
L.D.S. church.
Scripture study is an
important part of the church. This site will connect you to links which might help
you in your study,- such as the Standard Works, L.D.S. book titles and study guides.
Religious education is also important for my spiritual growth. The Articles of Faith answers many
questions about the beliefs of the L.D.S. church. Education for the Eternity offers
an excellent source for information featuring the relationship between academics and
religion. Home study is important for many people who are far removed from urban areas
where access to education is often unlimited. The following links will offer you a
variety of materials to assist you with your religious home study program (get ready!!
there are many to choose from) : Online
Scripture search, BYU Religious Education, Scripture Mastery List,
The BYU Study
Program,
the BYU Devotional and
Fireside Speeches, Faith, Grace and
Works, as well as the Daily Words of Wisdom
which offers information in several different languages (you choose the one you want)!!
And, if you need further assistance in your scripture search in another language, the Alta
Vista Translation with SYSTRAN can help you.
Deseret Books are now available on-line!!
This is a great place to get your New Testament study resources for Gospel Doctrine
teachers and students. There are many great LDS literature sources and writers available
on the Internet. This next link, Mormon
Literature Links, will put you in touch with some great writers. Need more,- the Infobase Library will put you in
touch with thousands of L.D.S. titles, study guides and reference material.
This
next site, General Conference talks,
will enable you to have copies of the latest conference talks even before they are
published in the monthly magazine, Ensign.
The Church News is a weekly newsletter
of the L.D.S. church. Now you can obtain transcripts of the 1998 Christmas devotional
delivered by the church presidency as well as recent talks from L.D.S. General Authorities
and officials by clicking on this link. The talk delivered by Elder Henry B. Eyring
at a recent fireside at BYU is now available on the Church News Website. Elder
Eyring's talk is the first in the 1999 Church Educational System fireside series and is
very insightful. Enjoy!!
A study of church history
is always enlightening. This page will give you access to various sites dedicated to
church history.
Temples: By accessing
this site, you will see photos of various temples throughout the world and read a sample
of some dedicatory prayers which will help you understand the important role temples have
in the church. Catch the link to the new temple in Anchorage, Alaska. We are really
excited about this new temple so close to us,- right in our own back yard. The Oakland Temple, aside from being a beautiful
structure, holds special meaning to me. I hope you agree that the online trip to
this wonderful temple is worthwhile.
Next, take a tour of the beautiful Temple Square, where you can see
and learn about the monuments, buildings, and instruments (pipe organ) in Temple Square.
The Square is absolutely lovely
at Christmas time. These thumbnail pictures can be enlarged by "left clicking"
on the picture.
Genealogy and family history
is a loving and an exciting part of the church. Today, there are some fabulous family search sites available free on the Internet
that can facilitate your search for your ancestors. Check out these links including "Ancestors" which is an
excellent family history and genealogy TV series produced by BYU. Also included is a link
to other fun aspects of genealogy, such as discovering family clans and heraldy.
Church visitor's centers will
enable you to explore different links to other great church sites covering various aspects
of the church worldwide such as L.D.S. Institutes of Religion; online L.D.S. family
history center resources; L.D.S. news, people and cultures; L.D.S. education
instituions and organizations; and L.D.S. shopping mall.
Music is a way of opening the door of the spirit or soul of an individual. This
next link connects you to a few midis of church hymns and children's songs. You can also read the
address "Music and The Spoken
Word" that was delivered from the Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake
City.
Service is an important role for all members of the church. These next links will
connect you to several church auxiliaries dedicated to teaching:
(1) Primary - The Primary Page is a
really great source of ideas and helps for primary leaders and families; also
another great help for teachers and parents is simply,- Primary. Other
sources for assistance in teaching children can be found in a beautifully loving site
called Cherishing Children. Another wonderful
site to assist parents in their important work is Dr. Zeus' Parenting Resources. There is even a
website to help parents think of new and wonderful activities for their youth. The Idea Box offers great suggestions for parents.
(2) There are a number of wonderful websites for women and the Relief Society such as the Errand of Angels which is a beautiful award winning
site that contains treasures for women in the church in areas such as charity,
teaching moments, humor (always important in a family), holidays, pioneers, and poetry.
Additionally, the Relief Society Rest Stop
addresses women's needs, talents and interest. Fathers are very important to
families and are not forgotten in our search. FatherWork will
assist fathers in their important work in helping their families obtain happiness. This
wonderful website contains over 300 pages of information, ideas and activities for
fathers.
(3) The youth hold a special place in the hearts of our society as well as our
church. Young Women's Corner page has many ideas
relating to young women and the Young Women's program in the L.D.S. church. The Boy Scout
program is another wonderful program the L.D.S. church sponsors. These links, L.D.S. Scouters and the L.D.S. Scouting Resources, will offer many great
ideas and information regarding Boy Scouts. Many youth in the church are blessed
with the early morning experience of the L.D.S. seminary program. Now help is available
for seminary teachers and families through this special home page devoted to the Seminary Program.
(4) Home teaching and visiting teaching is an important part of the L.D.S. church
where members are visited and taught by other members in their homes. Now there is a
website to assist Hometeachers
and visiting teachers with their important callings.
Activities for families and young people are important for family
togetherness. Listed below are an assortment of family activities on
the Internet we have found enjoyable; I hope you do too: San
Francisco Exploratorium; White
House for Kids (includes features on the First Family Pets -
non-partisan as they can be); United
States Environmental Protection Agency will help you discover
games and activities that will help you learn about the environment; Zoological
Society of San Diego (you can tell we live in California!); National
Geographic Society; Smithsonian
Institute (what a great place!!) and even learn more about Kite
Flying; Cool
Science, for a really cool science link; and since astronomy is a kick
for me, I'll include some of my favorites, Kids
in Space, Young
Astronomers , and Nasa
Quest,
Emergency preparation and food storage are hallmark features of the well-known
L.D.S. slogan: "Be Prepared." As a general rule, every
family should have an emergency supply kit that contains 3 days' worth of
water and food, a first-aid it, supplies and tools (eg. plastic plates,
flash lights, and a shut-off wrench for gas and water lines), at least one
complete change of clothing and footwear per person, and other important
items such as medications or copies of legal documents.
There are several sites on the Internet to help you with
your preparations for emergencies: American
Red Cross or the Federal Emergency
Management Agency are good places to start; for packaged kits you can
also try Safe-T-Proof Disaster
Preparedness or the Earth
Shakes or Emergency Essentials
for help with planning
for those unforeseen times of extreme need; in addition you can obtain information on
items you might need or like for your own personal preparation program and
order material from Food Storage Central
and Lakeridge Food Storage.
There are many other Internet sites that feature quality information from
other L.D.S. church members such as those that can be seen on Mormon.Com , Dorothy
Peterson's website, Brigham
and Jennifer's Homepage and
LDS gems.

This site has no official connection with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I do, however, claim a devotion to the principles, teachings, and policies of the Church.
Hopefully, by accessing the above sites, you have been
able to receive sufficient quality information about the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. One word of caution: the sites listed as "Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saint", "Mormon.Com", "Church News"
and those under the words "family history" are official sites of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The site "Ancestors" was produced by
BYU as was many of the religious educational sites while other sites were produced by
different individuals or organizations such as Deseret News, KSL, etc. and are not
official sites of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
All the sites have been reviewed and found to be
produced by responsible individuals according to church standards as I see
them. However, since web sites are frequently changed, please use responsible
judgment at all times in viewing Internet material.
I also wish to give credit to the following homepages
for their assistance in compiling the above information. They have been a source of
inspiration to me: The
