Search for Clinical Trials
- Often advancement in
medical treatments are first recognized in clinical trials. Clinical
trials are important for cancer treatments since every advancement in
treatment is made from clinical trials. For cancer patients, entering a
clinical trial is an important step. There are great advantages in
clinical trials, and there are also great risks. Clinical trials can offer
patients and families hope in the form of a chance to try promising
treatments not yet available to the public. The risk is the fact that
clinical trials are experimental; not all is known about the effects of
the drugs offered in clinical trials. Whatever decision is made
about participating in clinical trials, that decision should made with
full knowledge about the trial, about the drug(s) and about the goal(s) of
the treatment.
Listed below are various Internet web sites that offer extensive
information about clinical cancer trials, including lists of studies and
explanations of informed consent, the different phases of trials, and how
